Like any red blooded male I keep an eye on the press and always catch the dribble that’s written about wanna be celebrities, we all remember the boring yet beautiful Georgia Salpa who appeared in celebrity Big Brother last year.

At the time she was introduced the British public every Tom, Dick and Harry bought domains containing her name hoping she would become a global success.

Until last week there was a keyword rich .co.uk domain on page one of Google.co.uk for the term “Georgia Salpa” which caught my eye, not only was it full of bikini images but it was just a simple wordpress site that had over 500,000 links, and when you clicked on any part of the site whether it was a link, word or image it seemed to hotlink straight through to hundreds of different sites.

I panicked when this first happened but the stuff I clicked only landed me on reputable companies who I had seen before on other sites as they use re-marketing in AdSense.

I took a look at the code and the whole site seemed to be one big AdSense advert, some clever programmer had optimised a wordpress site right up to the black hat hilt and then coded the site to be one big advert.

As the term “Georgia Salpa” gets around 165,000 searches a month I’m sure the site in question must have been making a tidy sum from the AdSense clicks. When I looked today for the site, it’s not in the top 100 on google.co.uk and at a guess it been penalised by Google for the black hat SEO, especially with Google’s latest announcement of penalising over seo’d sites.

So why do it?

Well if you know what you are doing I’m guessing that buying and building a domain will only cost around £10 and for the time you can keep it in Google before it gets banned you must be able to make a good amount of money, an educated guess based on other AdSense sites I have owned would be around £2000 a month, then think of doing this with 100 sites, I’m pretty sure it would be worthwhile for a short term plan.

I just wish I had the time and brains to attempt something like it!
